It was a snowy winter’s night when this Wisconsin father witnessed his two sons’ random acts of kindness; they saw a man in a wheelchair in the snow, and they did what any good parent would wish their kids to do. The father was so proud that he snapped a picture and later took to Facebook to share it—and it went viral, winning praise from many!
It was a chilly December night in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, when Daniel Medina and his two sons, aged 10 and 6, were on the car ride home after a shopping trip.
Just as they were driving past a man in a wheelchair who was shoveling snow on the sidewalk, his boys suddenly made an unexpectedly heartwarming request.
Even though they didn’t know the man, Medina’s eldest son, Daniel, said, “Pull over, let’s go help him.”
The boys then stayed and helped the disabled man move the heavy snow on the walk for around 45 minutes.
“Daniel said [he wanted to help] because his mom’s in a wheelchair, and he would want someone to help her when she needed it,” Medina told InsideEdition.com.
Witnessing this act of compassion, Medina was incredibly proud of his sons. “It just made me happy,” he said. “They know to hold doors for people and all their manners.”
He made sure to snap a photo of the memorable moment.
And the man was grateful for the boys’ help, too. “He kept telling us thanks and kind of supervised us, made sure we dug out the bus stop in the corner and also his car because he had a doctor’s appointment the next day,” Medina recalled.
By the time they returned home that night, the boys were all tuckered out.
Medina later took to Facebook to share the photo of his sons, shovels in hand, clearing the snow for the wheelchair-bound man.
The post read:
Proud dad moment we’re driving down South 60th Street near Morgan, and my two sons, aged 10 and 6, asked me to pull over because they just saw a guy in a wheelchair trying to shovel his corner lot and they wanted to help.
Soon, the post went viral. Many Facebook users praised the boys for their gesture and the father for his good parenting.
“You have 2 wonderful sons with big hearts. It really is hard to grasp the season of giving at this young of age, but they’ve got it,” one Facebook user wrote.
Another added, “These kids were definitely raised right…..hats off to you Dad.”
“I let the kids read [the comments] this morning, they were so excited,” Medina told TMJ4.
Medina, what kindhearted children you have—you must be very proud!
