Man passes a scathing comment on a crying baby—then, someone pulls him in line quick smart

When a mom in the United Kingdom took her baby out for a meal at a restaurant, she didn’t expect things to turn unpleasant—her baby was crying and a young man was complaining out loud about her son. Fortunately for her, the young man’s dad came to her rescue.

It is never an easy task for parents to take their baby out, especially when you’ve got to bring all sorts of necessary things like a stash of diapers. Things can get worse, however, when the baby starts crying and screaming, attracting glares from others, like what Lucy Hatami experienced.

In August 2016, Hatami, a new mom from Hertfordshire, took her 8-month-old son, Ben, out to a restaurant so that she could have breakfast. What was supposed to be a peaceful meal was interrupted by Ben’s screams and cries, and someone nearby couldn’t bear the noise.

According to Someecards, Hatami later wrote on her Facebook page that one man who was in his early 20s was muttering, “I wish she’d shut that thing up!”

Hearing this, Hatami wanted to respond, but the man’s dad spoke first.

Hatami recalled that the man’s dad “comes up behind him clips him round the ear” and said to him, “What and you think you were perfect? You were a right little sod. Now stop being a brat, go up there apologise to her and offer to get her breakfast as she clearly has her hands full!”

What followed was a pleasant experience for Hatami.

“I got my buffet breakfast with waiter service along with a lovely coffee,” she wrote.

And she was grateful to the dad for his words.

“Thank you to that dad who even after 20 odd years still remembers the difficulty of being parents to babies!” she concluded.

Her post soon went viral on the internet, something that Hatami didn’t expect.

“I honestly wasn’t thinking it would go as viral as it has,” she said. “I was just writing a fb status about the bizarre encounter I had.”

On the Facebook page, The NicerDays UK, where Hatami’s story was reposted, some Facebook users praised the father for his actions.

“Now that’s what I call great old school parenting. We had compassion and respect when we were growing up now the majority of the youth don’t have time for respect and compassion,” one user wrote.

Another added, “Well done and respect to his Dad who clearly has good manners and remembers what is [sic] like to have a baby crying.”

Parenting can be a difficult task, and as outsiders, we should show compassion, be understanding, and demonstrate more tolerance towards others. If everyone did this, perhaps the world would be a better place.
