Most dads are quite clueless when it comes to styling their daughter’s hair. But this single dad knew he had to master this skill so that his daughter can be well dressed.
Philippe Morgese from Florida became a single dad when his daughter, Emma, turned one year old. He knew that he had to take care of all her needs, including styling her hair.
He soon learned how to put on hair clips to braiding his daughter’s hair. He even has different hairstyles for her hair. He shared his talent and achievements in hair-styling on social media and the post went viral.
He then decided to start free classes for dads after many of them came to ask for advice.
“I thought it would be easier to show them in person,” he told BuzzFeed. “I get a lot of credit for doing her hair and hear compliments about my role as a father because of it. I want other dads to be able to experience that,” he added.
Philippe contacted the International Academy at Daytona, and owner of the academy, Mez, agreed to provide the venue for free at his request. The school thought that this was a great idea.
To give back to his community, he held the class for free. “I didn’t want any cost to anybody—I didn’t want to stop anyone from learning,” he said.
For his first class, seven dads and daughters turned up to learn the basics of combing hair, braiding, doing a bun and ponytail. “There was some struggling, but all the dads really put in the effort,” he said. The participants also received goody bags filled with combs and clips.
Seeing the success of his first class, Philippe created a Facebook page, Daddy Daughter Hair Factory, for other dads to learn how to style their daughters’ hair.
