You won’t believe that many families in this small village in Punjab own an Airplane!

We think of water tanks as boring cylindrical or concrete structures but the rural areas in Punjab have been lending a creative spin to them since ages. From birds to planes, there are very few things which haven’t been made into a water tank by them!

It may appear as something funny but the residents have emotional attachments associated with the structures.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the trend began with the first wave of Punjab NRIs (1970) returned to their villages. Rajesh Vora, a photographer, set out to document these intriguing tanks and found that there were great sentimental values attached to them. If they came back from France, they’d build a structure of air France aeroplane. Similarly, he gave an example of a restaurant owner in New York who wanted to celebrate India’s win in cricket so he built a tank shaped like a trophy.

Religious symbols too were popular like birds and Eagles. However, people now build whatever their heart desires, from footballs to bullocks, the sky is the limit to their imagination. These structures have been giving a medium for the house owners to express themselves and have become a matter of pride for the inhabitants.

It is an out of the box decor idea to quirk up the house as well as serving a purpose.
