Dog runs off leash & falls into frozen creek—watch closely as a firefighter crawls out to it

In the cold Canadian winter, a poor dog got himself hopelessly stuck in a frozen river creek. This footage captured how the hardworking firemen put their own lives on the line to save the canine. They are the real heroes of the world!

Help was urgently needed to save the poor pooch, so when the team of firemen arrived on the scene, they put in a huge effort. One fireman slid over the treacherous ice with a rope tied to his waist.

As the firefighter lifted the pup out of the hole, the ice underneath suddenly collapsed. For a moment, the firefighter went into the icy water with the canine. However, he finally managed to free the dog and lifted him out of the creek. Then the two of them were carefully pulled by rope, and they slowly slid back to safety.

The quivering dog looked wobbly as it climbed up the hill; he had to get his hind legs working as they were frozen up. Finally, the firemen covered him with a blanket and everyone rejoiced at the successful doggie rescue.

Fire Chief Denis Pilon told Inside Edition, “The dog was just running free. It just took off on its own.”

Pilon shared the video of this heroic rescue on Facebook in the hope of warning the public to “STAY OFF THE ICE!!”

“Yesterday afternoon, our firefighters were busy at the creek, rescuing someone’s pet. They allowed their dog to run off leash when it ventured our [sic] onto the ice and fell through. Quick action calling the fire department helped save their pet,” Pilon wrote. “Please keep your pets and children away from the Creek, the ice is thin and it is NOT safe,” he cautioned.

Kudos to the police and firefighters for saving the pup’s life!
